Buying items with real cash?????????
I saw a link on the New Zealand and Austrailian web site that was selling just about any item you would want for real cash. Including Sigils and level 20 accounts!!! Is this just a cheat site or are these items allowed???

Its a violation of the EULA and illegal (selling something that doesn't belong to you).

People also sell stuff from mmo's including guild wars on ebay, but ofcourse all they say is "you're not actually bidding on the item, you're bidding on the time it took to get the item and the item is simply a gift" but all anet has to do is tell ebay to stop transactions from gw and stuff, I heard that happened with D2 not too sure though

GW does not allow it. It's specifically against their policy.
From the 4th of July update on their webpage Quote:

Technically speaking. In legal terms you are also trading on materials with Copyright violations in that the product being sold are the copyright property of Arenanet and NCSoft. It has not had precedence yet, but if it was to go to court, it could be presented that way. In Game Gold, Sigils Weapons Items ect are all copyright protected code, that is being exchanged illegally. Even selling accounts with full inventories could be considered a violation of copyright. All be it the DMCA is a pain in the butt for so many venues I would hate to give it a good aspect of any kind to be seen in a good light. But it is something they could pursue if it ever came to that, but it would cost a bundle to do it, so its prob just easier to ban wipe the accounts that have been used to do these transactions. which they are doing one by one...

Also, if you're saying that GWGuru condones this because of the "ads" you've seen posted in various forums here, those posts are being made by people who own those types of sites. They are not encouraged, condoned or allowed by GWG. From what I understand, the accounts are banned as soon as a moderator sees the posts. The annoying part is that the person simply recreates a slightly different account and does it again.

Nice find. I stand very pleasantly corrected... There is indeed a precedence for this problem legally.

they auction off their time not the item....the item is a gift. it's the same basic principle used to scalp tickets to events. You sell a t-shirt for 5,000 dollars and two tickets to the Super Bowl are a gift.....
